Summer at St Cuthbert’s

Summer at St Cuthbert’s

It’s hot, everyone! Summer is well and truly upon us, and this update is here to let you know about some of the wonderful things happening around our church.

Tomorrow at 10:00 AM, we have a very special occasion: our Celebration of Animals Service in Isabel Christie Park. This will also be Heather’s last service with us as curate before she moves on to her new role in the Cheshunt Team. Please come and join us, whether you have a pet or not, and whether you want to bring them along or leave them at home. If you think it’s going to be too hot for your pet, feel free to just bring a photo instead. We will be praying for all our beloved animals, whether they are present or not!

Looking further ahead, we will be welcoming Ann-Marie Wilson on Sunday, 5th July at 10:00 AM. Ann-Marie is a tireless campaigner against FGM, and she has probably the largest faith in the smallest human package I have ever encountered! Listening to her is always an inspiration, so make sure you don’t miss her visit.

On 19th July, we will be joining our friends at St Catherine’s & St Paul’s Church for a joint service there at 10:30 AM. Nick and Rachel will be away that day down in Bristol, celebrating the dedication of their grandson, Simeon.

Two weeks later, Jane will be leading a Songs of Praise service. This is always a popular summer event, so please get in touch with her if you have a favourite song or hymn you would like us to sing—and please share a little bit about why it is significant to you.

Then on Sunday, 23rd August, we are asking you to tell us about any mission organisation or charity that you support. Throughout the year, we spotlight a number of different Christian missions and charities at home and abroad (Ann-Marie’s among them), but many of us have our own causes that are dear to our hearts. This will be a wonderful opportunity to share news about your favourites with the rest of the church family.

Finally, at the end of August, we have another joint service—this time at St Laurence’s Church in Wormley, which will also feature a 10:30 AM start.

On a normal Sunday (if there is such a thing!), we are right here at 10:00 AM. However, if the weather is kind to us, we may well walk over to the park one Sunday and take our worship outdoors. You are always welcome to join us—please take us as you find us, and we promise to do exactly the same with you!
