Sermons at St Cuthbert’s

Sermons at St Cuthbert’s

We have a talented group of preachers at our church, who bring a variety of styles and their broad experience to enhance ourteaching ministry.

For instance, we have someone with over 30 years of experience in preaching in local churches, someone with the same amount of experience in marketing and communication, someone who has served on the mission field in Africa, and knows how to translate the truths of the gospel from one culture to another, and somone who has experience of meeting people in hosptial, often at their lowest ebb, and can bring God’s message of comfort and love to those who really need it. And then there’s someone who has a lifetime’s experience in health care, and a real knack at making complicated things clear and simple.

All these people stand up on a Sunday or a Thursday at our services and share the fruits of their knowledge and wisdom, and then we all move on and seldom remember all that they said.

Well not any more!

We are now recording our regular sermons, plus some one offs, and making them available so if you missed one you can catch up (think of it as iPlayer for church!), or listen again to one that was particularly meaningful to you. You can also work your way through a series of connected sermons on one topic, and take a deep dive into a particular book in the Bible, or a particular aspect of Christian living.

Typically, Sunday morning sermons are more focussed on how to live life as a disciples of Jesus, and Thursdays take time to explore parts of the Bible in more detail.

So, this year, we have been learning about prayer, and about being sent by God into the world – that’s been our Sunday morning topics for a while. Follow this link for more information on this year’s topics.

Meanwhile on Thursday we have been or will be examining Psalms, Romans, Daniel and 1 John- trying to understand how the books function as a whole, as well as focussing on particular highlights within them.

Listen along with us, and learn more about your faith. Grow in confidence, love and trust in the God who walks ahead of us and beside us into the future, one day at a time.
