Planting Seeds for the Future: Our 2026 Giving Campaign

This Sunday, April 12th, Nick launches our 2026 giving campaign at the 10:00 am service. At the start of this year, the PCC adopted a deficit budget, as we are expecting our outgoings to exceed our income by £11,000 in 2026. While our 2024 campaign inspired wonderfully generous gifts that enabled us to complete four out of five major building projects, we still face a gap between our regular income and expenditure.

This new campaign has a different focus: challenging us to see if we can close that £11,000 gap specifically by increasing our regular giving. To put this in perspective, if every household that supports St Cuthbert’s could increase their giving by just £4 per week—roughly the price of a cup of coffee and a piece of cake—the church would be able to break even. We trust in a generous God and seek to see that trust borne out as He inspires us to finance our church for the future. Let us not simply harvest the fruit of previous generations’ generosity; let us also plant seeds of generosity so that future generations of the St Cuthbert’s family can look back and thank us.

Nick will be presenting full details of our financial situation on Sunday, and repeating the key messages on the next two Sundays for anyone who missed out. We are invited to fill in a pledge slip, and return it to the box at the back of church, and we will review people’s pledges and announce the outcomes on Sunday 7 June.
