Fnding Peace and Purpose: Compassion & Taize

Sunday, April 26th, is a significant day in the life of our church, offering opportunities for both global action and personal reflection. At our 10:00 am service, we focus on our partnership with Compassion UK. Lizzie and Sherif Habashi will share the impact of their work in Togo, explaining how child sponsorship provides life-changing resources like medical check-ups, nutritional support, and Christ-centered guidance through local churches. We will explore how our support helps release children from poverty in Jesus’ name.

Later that evening at 6:30 pm, we transition to a completely different pace with our Taizé service. This is the next in our occasional series of quiet, meditative services. Based on the beautiful and simple music written by the Taizé community, the service provides a peaceful space for prayer and contemplation. Whether you are seeking a deeper connection with our global partners in the morning or a moment of stillness in the evening, we hope you will join us at St Cuthbert’s for these two distinct ways of connecting with God’s grace and purpose.

Annual Church Meeting

Looking ahead to 17 May, we have our Annual Meeting starting after our Morning Service. Grab a coffee and settle down to hear reports of all that we did in 2025, and to vote for new members of the PCC, amongst others. Then, why not make a day of it, bring a picnic lunch, and if the weather is fine we’ll go out to the park and eat together.

If it’s wet … there’s always the church hall!

Are we raising funds for Compassion on Sunday? Last week’s Notice Sheet mentions the opportunity to sponsor a child but doesn’t mention anything about a collection.

Hi Dorothy – yes, all money raised tomorrow will be sent to Compassion. People can give either in cash or through the card reader. PLease be aware that donations throyugh the card reader are subject to a fee of 1.69% – so if you give £10, Compassion will actually receive £9.83.
