Thy Kingdom Come 2024

Thy Kingdom Come 2024

Sunday 12th to Saturday 18th May 2024

Hoddesdon Baptist Church are running a 24-7 prayer room* during Thy Kingdom Come week from 12-18th May. We invite everyone from Churches Together to take part and to come and spend an hour or more praying in the prayer room. The information below explains more about it and how to get involved.

The vision for the prayer room is that

  • as we pray we will meet with the Lord and deepen our relationship Him
  • the Holy Spirit will empower us as we pray and so help us to live our lives for the Lord
  • we will each spend time praying for 5 people (friends/family/colleagues) to come to faith in Jesus
  • We will learn and grow in prayer, maybe in different and creative ways

Why have a prayer room?

There is significance in devoting a specific time in a specific place to pray, stepping out of your normal routine. It’s a sacrifice of time and convenience, underlining what is truly important to you. If nothing else, this sacrifice is a sign of faith that prayer is significant, that God is listening, and that He meets with us today.

How the prayer room works and what is in it?

The Prayer Room will be in the creche, but be transformed, with prayer stations to help you pray in different and creative ways. There will be opportunities to draw, sing, write, read, reflect, walk around the room or be still in prayer and everyone has the freedom to pray in different ways, it’s not prescriptive.

The idea is that you sign up for an hour slot in the prayer room and then come and pray. If you don’t want to come on your own then come with a friend or a group. You can sign up for as many slots as you want during the week.

Praying at night

For night-time slots you may feel more comfortable attending with someone else, a friend or family member for example. Alternatively, you might like to commit to praying for an hour from home at night (maybe if you are often awake in the night). If that’s the case, please still sign up, but just add “from home” after your name and I’ll let you have some resources to pray from home.
