Celebration of Animals Service – Sunday 14th September

Isabel Christie Park, Whitley Road

Although the idea was first inspired by the pet service featured in the Vicar of Dibley TV storyline, I came to realise that this is a wonderful opportunity to connect with our neighbourhood and to invite friends and neighbours to join us.

This is more than just a “pet service” – it is a celebration of all God’s creatures, whom He lovingly created. The service is open to everyone, whether you have a pet or not, but simply love animals. It’s a great opportunity to invite family, friends, and neighbours, young and old, to share in this special celebration.

The service is rooted in scripture, especially Genesis 9:9–17, where God makes a covenant not just with Noah and his descendants, but with all of creation.

📅 When: Sunday 14th September, 10am
📍 Where: Isabel Christie Park, opposite the church (with refreshments afterwards)

If the weather is unkind and rain threatens, the service will move inside St Cuthbert’s Church.

Please come along—bring a picnic rug or chair, and your pet (on a lead or in a cage). If you’d prefer, you’re welcome to bring a photo of your pet instead. All we ask is that pets are well managed for their wellbeing and the comfort of others.

We look forward to welcoming you to this joyful celebration of God’s animals!
