Winter Night Shelter

Over 40 St Cuthbert’s folk have volunteered to support Broxbourne single homeless people overnight on a Friday as part of the pilot Broxbourne Winter Night Shelter project happening from 7th January to 3rd March in 7 churches across the borough, one for each night of the week. Not only that but even more volunteers wash bedding each week and provide money for little extras on Friday evenings, like newspapers, fruit, cake and sandwich fillers. The borough-wide project has attracted over 300 volunteers, both those of faith and no faith. After it has finished, there is a celebration for all volunteers at St Joseph’s RC church, WALTHAM Cross on Saturday 9th March from 7.30-10.30. A thorough evaluation will decide if the project is repeated in 2020.
